Panda death blamed on poison gas
Finger-pointing has persisted in the days following the sudden death
last week of a giant panda at a zoo in Shandong Province, with
zookeepers taking the brunt of the blame.
The accusations continue to be heard, despite zoo management pointing
its own fingers this week in saying that a third party was to blame for
the incident.

The panda died Thursday after inhaling a large amount of disinfecting gas that had leaked into its pavilion through an air pipe connected to an air-raid shelter, Liu Jungang, a senior manager at the Jinan Zoo, said Monday in a prepared statement at a press conference.
The gas was composed of chlorine, chlorine hydride and carbon monoxide, Liu said. "From the moment they are born, they are under human stress," she said. "The best thing we can do for wild animals is leave them alone." Giant pandas are among the most endangered species in the world, with only a few thousand living in the wild mountainous areas of Southwest China. air jordan CP3 .
